Tugo Tutors
Tugo Tutors runs weekly online classes for students aged 11 to 16, from Year 7 through to GCSE. Each class has 6 to 8 students and is taught by a PGCE-qualified, DBS-checked maths teacher.
Every class follows the Tugo Method, a lesson structure built on cognitive science research into how children learn and remember, and designed to help students make the most progress from every hour. Lessons open by checking that the foundations are secure, then move through steadily harder questions, and finish with mixed questions where students have to work out which method to use, as they will in the exam.
Online whiteboard
Students write their working on an online whiteboard, and the teacher sees every line of it as it happens, as if sitting beside them. A mistake is caught at the step where it happens and put right in the lesson. The teacher has live analytics and the Tugo Teaching Assistant checks work and flags who needs help, so nobody sits stuck in silence.
The small group matters too. Students see others finding the same questions hard, which makes it easier to keep trying, and the pace of the class keeps them focused after a full day at school. Families start with a free first lesson and a diagnostic assessment that shows where their child is secure and where the gaps are.
Where it finds a specific gap, we add short one-to-one catch-up sessions alongside the weekly class, and parents receive a report each half term.
